A note from Anne
Let me start by saying --
I am not Lydia!!
I'm Anne Andras the founder of
Lydia's House.
------
Now, you probably have some questions…
Who was Lydia?
A dealer of purple cloth. A worshiper of God. Paul, along with Silas and Timothy, encountered Lydia when they were seeking a place to pray. She was gathered with other women on the bank of a river.
The Lord opened up her heart, and she opened up her home. Lydia was baptized that day, along with her entire household, and she invited the disciples into her home.
"One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay."
Acts 16: 14-15
What does an ancient woman from Thyatira have to do with
Brenham, TX?
While reading this passage years ago, I heard the Lord whisper into my spirit that one day I would have a Lydia's House. Not knowing what that meant, I continued on with my life, raising a family and seeking to know Jesus better. Then, in 2011, while driving down a side street in downtown Brenham, Texas, the Lord whispered again. I was passing by a dilapidated building with no roof, when I heard "That's Lydia's House.” I think my holy response was "Really? You've got to be kidding!" The building was not for sale, and the owner was not interested in selling it. So, once again, I went back to my life settling into country life and seeking to know Jesus better. Then in 2016, doors began to open, and I was able to purchase Lydia's House and the newly renovated office building adjacent to it.

We opened the doors in February 2017!
How do I get involved?

What is Lydia's House?
Basically, it’s an old building with a welcoming atmosphere that invites all who enter to “come to my house and stay.”. Remember all those years while waiting on Lydia’s House that I was living my life and getting to know Jesus better ? Well, God was busy giving me a love for His Word and a desire to lead women into a closer relationship with Jesus. So Lydia’s House has become a place for women to gather together, to seek His Face and draw nearer to the Savior. We do this through ongoing weekly Bible studies, special weekend events and personal prayer appointments.
The only question left is mine:
When will I see you at
Lydia's House?
May the Lord pour out His Spirit upon you, today and always!!
Anne
